A large-scale employment drive in Mysuru brought welcome relief to hundreds of hopeful applicants on Saturday, culminating in 1,511 candidates securing immediate job offers across multiple sectors.

Thousands Compete, but Vacancies Remain Unfilled

The recruitment drive was organized by the Janaspandana Trust, an initiative led by former MLA M.K. Somashekar. In total, 4,537 candidates registered for the event to compete for positions offered by more than 60 participating companies.

Alongside the 1,511 applicants who received appointment confirmations, another 1,309 job seekers advanced to the next screening stage. However, the event also cast a sharp light on a persistent industry challenge: the widening gulf between available openings and workforce readiness.

According to Somashekar, participating recruiters arrived with roughly 8,000 vacancies waiting to be filled. Despite the strong turnout, companies faced difficulty finding talent equipped with the specific competencies and domain skills required for those roles.

Focus on Employability and Market-Ready Skills

The mela was inaugurated by Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, Minister in-charge of Mysuru district, who commended the trust for connecting corporate recruiters directly with local talent.

Addressing the crowd of job seekers, Dr. Yathindra stressed that securing sustainable employment in an evolving economy requires continuous personal development. He urged students and young graduates to actively cultivate practical, market-aligned skill sets to strengthen their employability rather than relying solely on formal academic degrees.
