Hyderabad Plant Rolls Out 400th Apache Fuselage in Defence Aviation Milestone

Hyderabad’s advanced manufacturing sector marked a major milestone on Monday, September 7, 2026, as Tata Boeing Aerospace (TBAL) rolled out its 400th fuselage for the AH-64E Apache attack helicopter. Assembled in Telangana, these airframes provide the structural backbone for Apaches flown by defence forces around the globe.

Anchoring Global and Domestic Fleets

The joint venture between Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) manufactures primary aerostructures that serve not only international export customers but also India's armed forces. Domestically, the nation maintains a dedicated fleet of 28 Apaches, with 22 stationed with the Indian Air Force and six operated by the Indian Army.

By producing critical components locally, the Hyderabad assembly lines continue to expand the presence of Indian-engineered systems in frontline multi-role combat helicopters deployed across multiple continents.

A Decade of Advanced Aerospace Manufacturing

Since setting up operations in 2016, the venture has steadily ramped up its delivery cadence. The 300th fuselage rolled off the line in February 2025, with another 100 structures assembled over the subsequent 19 months at the 52,000 sq metre high-tech facility.

With an engineering and technical staff exceeding 750 personnel, the facility serves as a flagship demonstration of collaborative high-precision aerospace manufacturing within India.
