A Historic Resolution

The lands, previously entangled in bureaucratic classifications—tank land, government poramboke recorded as grove (Thopu), and endowment land—are now rightfully in the hands of those who have lived on them for generations. Vatticherukuru saw 515 families benefit, Pullatagunta 206, and Etukuru 91.

Leaders Hail the Achievement

Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, present at the distribution in Vatticherukuru, called it the state’s first permanent resolution of such a long-pending dispute. He highlighted broader efforts, noting, “Land records are being re-surveyed and digitised across the State and that 1.60 lakh acres would be freed from restrictions under Section 22(A) of the Registration Act.”

“Solutions have been found to longstanding land issues in about 300 villages,” said Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad, describing the initiative as landmark.

Broader Impacts and Future Steps

Guntur District Collector C.M. Sai Kanth Varma estimated the move would directly benefit 3,000 to 4,000 people. The event also included pension distributions, underscoring the government’s push toward rural welfare and secure livelihoods. QR-coded pattadar passbooks are now being issued post re-survey verification, bringing transparency and modern efficiency to age-old land rights processes.
