Vijayawada’s iconic Kanaka Durga temple is gearing up for one of its busiest periods of the year. With just weeks to go before the Dasara Sharannavaratri festivities, construction of queue lines began Sunday amid traditional ceremonies—marking the start of intensive preparations expected to host lakhs of devotees.

Sacred Start to Practical Preparations

Before any physical work could begin, temple authorities performed Vighneswara puja at the Vinayaka temple near Canal Road. The rituals, held at an auspicious time determined by the temple’s Vedic committee, set a solemn tone for the logistical efforts ahead.

Leadership and Directives

Temple Executive Officer V.K. Seena Naik didn’t just observe—he participated fully, breaking a coconut to formally launch the queue-line works. His prayer was simple but urgent: a smooth, successful Dasara. He directed engineering staff to complete not just the queues, but also barricades, shelters, and drinking-water arrangements—all on schedule, all to standard.

Aiming for Devotee Comfort

With enormous crowds anticipated over the nine-day festival, every detail matters. Naik emphasized that the new arrangements should minimize inconvenience, ensuring that spiritual focus isn’t disrupted by practical hassles. The work follows instructions from senior Endowments Department officials, reflecting high-level attention to both devotion and delivery.
