The skies above Meerut will erupt in a symphony of precision and patriotism next week as the Indian Air Force's legendary Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team takes flight for the city's first-ever airshow. On September 19 and 20, 2026, nine distinctive red-and-white Hawk Mk 132 aircraft will perform breathtaking maneuvers that showcase military excellence and national pride.

Fresh from their training season, the team brings five new members who join veterans in maintaining the exacting standards that define Surya Kiran. These pilots fly in formations so tight—less than five meters apart—that every maneuver becomes a testament to exceptional skill and absolute trust. The aircraft will execute graceful loops, thrilling barrel rolls, inverted flying, and their iconic DNA maneuver, each movement demonstrating seamless coordination that leaves audiences breathless.

Painting the Sky in Tricolor

Adding to the visual spectacle, the Hawks now feature indigenously developed smoke pods that paint the sky in saffron, white, and green. Developed at the IAF's Base Repair Depot in Nashik, this modification allows the team to trail the national colors during their performance, creating a moving tribute to the nation with every pass.

Hometown Heroes Take Flight

This performance carries special significance for Squadron Leader Aman Goyal and Squadron Leader Rahul Singh, both Meerut natives who will perform before their hometown crowd. They'll be joined by Squadron Leader Sharad Goel, another local son, making this display particularly emotional for the community. Established in 1996, SKAT is Asia's only nine-aircraft aerobatic team and has performed over 800 displays worldwide, but this marks their debut in Meerut.
