The Allegations

Arun, a 1998 batch IPS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, claims Shankar has repeatedly abused freedom of speech to tarnish his reputation. The YouTuber allegedly presents himself as having confidential inside information about police officers, politicians, and business leaders while actually peddling falsehoods as facts.

The officer states that Shankar’s activities are commercially driven, gaining financial incentive from sensational falsehoods that attract maximum viewership. This isn’t just about reputation—it’s about a business model built on deception.

Specific Claims

Among the most damaging allegations: Shankar reportedly called Arun a ‘gangster,’ a ‘coolie’ working for political masters, and someone who manipulates the criminal justice system. In some videos, he referred to the officer as ‘Ice cream officer’ or simply ‘ice cream.’

On July 15, 2026, Shankar allegedly tweeted false information about an income tax search at Arun’s residence, later editing it to claim Enforcement Directorate officials had arrived. The tweet included photographs of Arun and his wife, an Indian Revenue Service officer, and falsely attributed the information to Central government sources.

Justice K. Govindarajan Thilakavadi has granted Shankar’s legal team until September 16, 2026, to file their counter affidavits. Senior counsel P.H. Arvindh Pandian represents Arun, while K. Gowtham Kumar represents Shankar, and advocate Arun C. Mohan represents X Corporation.
