Former Indian batter VVS Laxman has disclosed why he chose not to step into the role of head coach for the Indian men's national cricket team following the conclusion of Rahul Dravid's tenure.

Personal Reasons Kept Laxman From National Team Coaching Duties

Addressing his decision, Laxman revealed that although he was considered and slated to take over the head coach responsibilities, personal circumstances prevented him from taking on the high-profile assignment.

Laxman explained that personal commitments during the 2023 and 2024 period led him to turn down the opportunity to manage the national senior side. The position ultimately opened up following Dravid's departure after his successful coaching stint with Team India.

Transforming Infrastructure at the BCCI Centre of Excellence

Instead of managing the senior men's team on the global circuit, Laxman has focused heavily on his administrative and developmental duties at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE).

The facility represents a major transformation in Indian cricket infrastructure. Developed under the leadership of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and his administration, the Centre of Excellence was built on 40 acres of previously barren land, turning it into a sprawling world-class training center for elite athletes.
