A Malaysia Airlines flight experienced an unexpected disruption while approaching Kolkata after a laser beam directed at the cockpit momentarily disoriented the pilot.

Cockpit Struck by Laser Light

The incident took place as the flight was preparing to land at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata. A bright laser light hit the flight deck, temporarily distracting and blinding the pilot during a critical phase of the descent.

Go-Around and Safe Landing

To prioritize passenger safety following the sudden loss of clear vision, the flight crew executed a go-around maneuver. The aircraft circled in the airspace near Kolkata until the pilot fully recovered visual acuity and could realign the flight path for a second landing attempt.

The aircraft subsequently completed a safe touchdown at Kolkata airport without any further complications or reported injuries.
