On Sunday, Minister Narayana—who also serves as Kakinada District In-Charge—alongside city MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao and Municipal Commissioner N.V.V. Satyanarayana, conducted a thorough review of both ongoing and proposed development projects. The meeting focused on practical solutions for the city's infrastructure needs.
Minister Narayana directed officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the underground drainage system, a crucial step in securing the ₹200 crore from the Centre. The funding would come through the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF), a central government initiative designed to support urban infrastructure projects across India.
Broader Infrastructure Push
Beyond the drainage project, the review covered multiple infrastructure initiatives that signal the state's commitment to Kakinada's development. The ₹354 crore Jal Jeevan Mission works received particular attention, with Minister Narayana indicating that the state government would soon make decisions regarding drinking water sources and allocation for the city.
The government has also invited tenders for park modernization and green cover improvement projects worth ₹25 crore, indicating a comprehensive approach to urban development that balances practical infrastructure with quality-of-life enhancements.
