New AP Green Chair Nagababu Plants Trees, Slams Past Government's Green Record

Just a day after stepping into his new role, K. Nagendra Rao—better known as Nagababu—the freshly minted chairman of the A.P. Green Executive Committee, didn't waste any time getting his hands dirty. Alongside his wife Padmaja, he planted peepal and neem saplings at Aranyamam in Mangalagiri, sending a clear, green message to the state.

A Call to Action

Nagababu didn't just plant trees—he made a public appeal. He urged citizens across Andhra Pradesh to join the effort, to not only plant saplings but to protect them as they grow. He emphasized that peepal and neem trees, in particular, play a crucial role in cleaning the environment and supporting local biodiversity.

Political Critique and a Broader Vision

The new chairman didn't shy away from politics. He took direct aim at the previous YSRCP government, accusing it of prioritizing tree removal over conservation and failing to compensate for the loss of green cover. His vision extends beyond state borders; he asserted that India should aim to become a global role model in expanding its green canopy.

The Aranyamam Project

Meanwhile, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests P.V. Chalapathi Rao provided details on the ambitious Aranyamam project. Slated for completion within 10 months at a cost of ₹24 crore, the development has already seen 73 trees carefully transplanted to new locations—a nod to balancing progress with preservation.
