160 Electric Detonators Found Near Army Camp in Tense Secunderabad

Just three days after a major weapons theft rattled the Secunderabad Cantonment, authorities made another startling discovery: 160 electric detonators found near an Army camp. The timing couldn't have been more tense.

Discovery and Initial Concerns

Army personnel spotted a suspicious plastic bucket near the rear wall of the firing range Wednesday afternoon. Their alertness triggered an immediate response from Bollarum Police, who discovered the detonators packed in eight bundles. The find sent ripples through security forces already on high alert.

Investigation and Clarification

A bomb disposal team from Malkajgiri, accompanied by a sniffer dog, quickly identified the materials as 33A-size commercial electric detonators. Police secured them at a safe location while launching an investigation into their origin.

Malkajgiri Police confirmed the detonators were unrelated to the weapons theft that had shaken the community days earlier. "The material was allegedly abandoned by unidentified persons involved in construction activity," an officer stated, pointing to a venture beside the golf course.

Broader Security Context

The discovery came amid an intense investigation into the theft of four AK-203 assault rifles, an INSAS 1B1 rifle, six 9 mm Auto 1A pistols, a civilian 6.35-bore pistol and more than 1,800 rounds of ammunition from the 20 Madras Regiment premises.

Military Intelligence has joined the probe, working alongside the entire Malkajgiri police force, Hyderabad Task Force and Counter Intelligence Cell. Security restrictions remain tight throughout the Secunderabad Cantonment area as investigators pursue multiple leads from an undisclosed location within the defense zone.

Bollarum police have registered a case against unidentified persons and continue investigating how the detonators ended up near the sensitive military installation.
