Hyderabad’s Special Task Force has cracked down on a suspected drug peddler from West Bengal, seizing heroin worth ₹9 lakh and ending what police describe as a five-year supply chain targeting the city’s tech professionals.

A construction worker’s dark pivot

Anu S.K. originally came to Hyderabad looking for work as a construction supervisor. But somewhere along the way, his path took a grim turn. While employed on projects in the booming HITEC City area, he began mingling with software engineers—and soon started supplying them with heroin.

Five years of supply

According to the STF, Anu had been making regular trips back to West Bengal, where he procured heroin at low prices. For half a decade, he transported the drug to Hyderabad, carefully packing it into one-gram silver foil packets. His customers, police say, were largely young professionals working in the tech sector.

The arrest

Acting on a tip, STF officers moved in on Anu’s rented room in Puppalguda-Narsingi. They caught him in the act of selling the narcotic. The seized heroin and the accused were handed over to the Gandipet Excise Station for further legal proceedings.
