From saplings of guava and drumstick to native vegetable seeds and farming tools, the santhe offered a little of everything for those connected to the land. But it was the people—the growers themselves—who gave the event its heart. Veeresh, a farmer from Bedara Hosahalli, stood proudly beside his stall, selling saplings grown on just 21 guntas of land. His story echoed through the crowd: a dream of joining the army rerouted by fate into farming, now sustaining his family through hard work and diversification.
“With hard work and the support of family members, one can earn enough to feed a family,” Veeresh said—a quiet testament to resilience that hung in the air long after visitors moved to the next stall.

Beyond sales, the santhe served as a live classroom. Demonstration plots cultivated by the university allowed visitors to see agricultural techniques in action. Farmers’ Producer Organizations brought seeds collected from native growers, emphasizing sustainability and local pride.
