A Delhi court has sent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain to judicial custody in connection with a corruption case, while refusing to declare his arrest illegal.

Court Rejects Illegal Arrest Claim

The court turned down Jain's plea seeking to have his arrest declared unlawful, ordering that he be placed in judicial custody. Four others were also sent to judicial custody in the same case, according to reports.

Jain's Defence in Court

Appearing before the court after his arrest, Jain argued that he was already in jail when the tender at the centre of the case was floated. "Was in jail when tender floated," Jain told the court, questioning the basis of the corruption allegations against him.

Political Motive Alleged

The AAP leader alleged political vendetta behind the action against him. "This is done because Punjab election is coming up," Jain said, crying foul over his arrest.

The case adds to the legal troubles facing the AAP leader, who has been embroiled in multiple investigations. The court's decision to send him to judicial custody marks a significant development in the ongoing proceedings.
