In a move to strengthen regional camaraderie, Karnataka is rolling out the red carpet for Chief Ministers from every southern state to attend the iconic Mysuru Dasara festivities this year. The decision, made during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in Bengaluru on Thursday, signals an effort to blend cultural celebration with interstate diplomacy.

A Festival with Expanded Horizons

Shivakumar isn't stopping at political invitations. He's reaching out to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh too, hoping to weave military grandeur into the Dasara tapestry. The plan? An aero show and defense service participation in the parade, complete with a tableau showcasing their contributions. It's Dasara, but with wings and valor.

Fresh Flavors to Tradition

Beyond the usual splendor, this year's festival is getting a creative boost. Authorities have been directed to introduce Chitra Santhe (an art fair), a flea market, and a vintage car rally—additions meant to draw both locals and tourists deeper into the celebration's fold. To ensure smooth execution, a minister will be appointed for daily oversight, working alongside the district in-charge minister.
