HYDERABAD — Tensions flared in the city on Tuesday as the Telangana Pradesh Mahila Congress took to the streets, their voices rising in unified protest against what they call a politically motivated FIR filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

A Stand Against 'Vindictive Politics'

Errabelli Swarna, leading the charge, did not mince words. She called the FIR a clear reflection of the BJP’s "vindictive politics," arguing that Gandhi is being targeted for raising critical issues like caste census and women’s reservation. The crowd, a mix of district Mahila Congress presidents, state office-bearers, and party workers, stood firm behind her.

Attempted Rally and Police Intervention

The women attempted to organize a rally under the banner of "Dar Mat," aiming to march from Gandhi Bhavan. But police intervention halted their plans, forcing the protest to remain within the premises. Undeterred, they raised their demands louder, their resolve unshaken by the barriers.

"Cases are being registered against Mr. Gandhi for raising issues including a caste census and women’s reservation," Swarna stated, emphasizing the party’s commitment to fight such actions.

Broader Allegations and Demands

Beyond the FIR, Swarna also demanded a case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against those allegedly involved in "purifying" with Ganga water the place where Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge sat during a public meeting. The protest, though contained, echoed a broader call for justice and dignity.
